On the Farm

Gladys gives birth       Goats     Olive the pot bellied pig    Mrs Fuller's class' chicks  Lambs

Mrs Fuller's kindergarten class donated these six chicks to a local family.  Now they're producing plenty of fresh eggs.

Norwell's farming community is broader and deeper than you might expect.

fable.jpg (13906 bytes) Norwell has a small but active farming community, although more "farmers" tend fields and raise animals for pleasure than for survival.  That doesn't bother these two horses, shown here to the left.

The ponies to the right are raised for playing with autistic children.  Autistic children have difficulties relating to many of their human peers, but find these ponies calming and pleasant to be around.  Here they're just hanging out, attracted to this little girl by the prospect of getting a treat to eat.

This young goat likes standing on this box, but will gladly come to the fence if you look as though you have a treat.

Out, feeding by the compost pile.

Mmmmm,mmmmmmm good

Getting ready to turn in for the night, roosting up high, out of danger's way.

Olive

NorPB pig.jpg (24003 bytes) We hear this baby pot-bellied pig will be house-trained.

They say pigs are as trainable as dogs, but you form your own opinion.

("Olive" does come when she's called)

Lambs

"Spot" rests while his mom feeds.  Spot is one day old in this picture.

Hey, I want to get up there!  How's the view?

Gladys gives birth!

We were witness to a calf birth on Monday, May 15th, after a lengthy pregnancy.  The pictures that follow are quite graphic, so parents, view first for your own family's viewing and age appropriateness.

This series took about a half hour.   Poor Gladys was tired, but not too tired to lick off her new calf, and help him stand within another half hour!
