What are Pumpkin Chunks?  Pumpkin Chunks toss pumpkns - as far as possible.  Fibonacci 2 is a group of Norwell and other South Shore residents who have smashed a pumpkin throwing record, at a contest held annually in the flat farmland of southern Delaware each November.

How the FU2 Works

An 8-10 pound pumpkin is placed in a custom sack at the end of a sling that is attached to the end of the arm. The arm is attached to a cam at the top of the 30 foot tower. The arm is held back while the hydraulic system is pressurized. Hydraulic fluid is pumped into the accumulators (4 orange tanks) until the optimum pressure is reached. When the arm is released the accumulators dump the hydraulic fluid into the top of a hydraulic piston forcing the piston down pulling a cable that is wrapped around the cam. This spins the arm 1800 swinging the pumpkin to the proper release point.
